The Middle East is a region where cars and truck is king and fuel is inexpensive, often leaving little reward to more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one company is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving rewarding too, already their client-list consists of McDonald’s.
